Woman files harassment complaint after DWI arrest

Posted on July 5th, 2011 No Comments

A woman recently filed a complaint against a Wilmington police officer after she claims he harassed her and arrested her on false charges of drunken driving.

The woman was reportedly pulled over on June 21st by the officer for having a broken headlight. The officer said he could smell alcohol on the woman’s breath, although she stated that she had not been drinking that night. The woman refused a breathalyzer test and was taken into custody. Later, she took two blood alcohol tests and was found to have a blood-alcohol content of 0.0. However, the officer put handcuffs on her and took her to a magistrate.

The woman was later released and filed a harassment complaint against the officer, as well as two others, for verbally abusing her during the arrest. All of the officers have been placed on administrative duty while the incident is investigated.
