Woman charged with DWI may have been drugged

Posted on November 14th, 2011 No Comments

A woman who was found passed out and nearly naked in her vehicle in Charlotte was charged with driving while intoxicated. Now her attorney says that she may have been drugged.

Police found the woman on the University of North Carolina campus in her car, wearing only a bra. Blood tests showed that her blood alcohol level was nearly three times over the legal limit. Her attorney says he has seen a growing number of young women charged with drunk driving after having their drinks spiked at bars.

Many of the women have said they had no idea how they ended up in their car. The legal term for it is called autoatism, which is when someone is unconscious of what they are doing and is therefore not held responsible for their actions.
