Wilmington man sentenced for heroin bust

Posted on May 29th, 2012 No Comments

A 39-year-old Wilmington man was sentenced to 12 years and six months in federal prison, followed by three months supervised release, after he pleaded guilty to possessing heroin with intent to distribute.

Authorities were able to find the man after the Wilmington Vice and Narcotics Detectives received a tip that he bought the heroin in New York and then sold it in the Wilmington area. After learning that he was coming back from New York, law enforcement stopped his car last June.

A K-9 unit was allowed to walk around and inside the car when it smelled narcotics in the man’s backpack. Authorities found 41 grams of heroin inside, according to WECT.
