Posted on March 11th, 2011 No Comments

New legislature in the North Carolina House of Representatives is aiming to make laws against drunk driving much tougher in order to discourage people from doing it.

The state House of Representatives voted 116-0 on a bill called ‘Laura’s Law’ that will increase the punishment for repeat offenders.

The new punishment will be a maximum of 32 months in jail versus 24, which is the current maximum sentence. The bill will be discussed again next week and if passed will be sent to the Senate. If the bill is passed there, it will then be put into effect on Dec. 1.

If you or a loved one has been charged with drunk driving, these serious charges can change your life. It is really important for their to be experienced representation on your side. Contact the Raleigh felony DWI lawyers of the Law Offices of Jim Black by calling 919-600-4609 today.

"Jim, I just wanted to thank you again for everything you did for me. I am very happy about the outcome and would recommend you to anyone and everyone who has a DUI case. Two things that stuck out the most is your patience and honesty, you wanted the best for me and that was obvious."
