Posted on October 3rd, 2012 No Comments

A Raleigh teenager who caused a drunk driving accident that killed a 17-year-old girl has been sentenced to prison. He pleaded guilty to felony death by vehicle and driving while impaired

At the time of the accident, both teens were legally drunk. The driver’s blood alcohol content was measured at 0.29, more than six times the legal limit. His friend and passenger, a junior at Millbrook High School, died when the car hit a tree at a high rate of speed.

According to the News Observer, the teen will spend the next five years at the Wake County Jail on the anniversary of the crash. He is currently serving a six-month sentence. As part of his plea deal, he will not be allowed to drive for four years, cannot consume alcohol for five years, must complete 300 hours of community service, and speak at high schools and driving classes about the dangers of drunk driving.

"Jim, I just wanted to thank you again for everything you did for me. I am very happy about the outcome and would recommend you to anyone and everyone who has a DUI case. Two things that stuck out the most is your patience and honesty, you wanted the best for me and that was obvious."
