South Carolina man sentenced to 9 years for drunk driving crash

A man from York County, South Carolina was recently sentenced to nine years in prison after a drunk driving crash that caused his girlfriend to slip into a coma for several months.

The accident occurred last year on Sherer Road. The man was driving his vehicle at over 70 miles per hour after he and his girlfriend had been drinking. He lost control of his vehicle and crashed. The man was not injured, however, his girlfriend suffered a brain injury that left her in a coma.

The man pled guilty to the charge of felony DWI and expressed his remorse for the accident. He will begin serving his sentence next month.
