San Antonio Spurs’ GM charged with drunk driving

Posted on November 7th, 2011 No Comments

The 51 year-old San Antonio Spurs’ General Manager, R.C. Buford, was arrested over the weekend on charges of driving while intoxicated and driving with an open container of alcohol.

Witnesses called police after seeing his vehicle hit a fence and then drive off. Another person saw him driving in circles in a parking lot. Law enforcement on the scene said the General Manager smelled like booze and his drink smelled like alcohol. Buford failed all the administered field sobriety tests and was taken to the county jail.

While in custody, he refused to take a blood test. However, San Antonio recently implemented a 24/7 ‘no refusal’ policy and police obtained a warrant to take blood samples. Results from the blood test have not been released. Buford was released from jail on Saturday after making bond.
