Raleigh man charged after Wade Avenue accident that killed two

Posted on April 26th, 2013 No Comments

A resident of Raleigh, who killed two people in a vehicular accident that occurred on Wade Avenue last month, was indicted on April 22 with two counts of felony death by vehicle and one count of driving while impaired (DWI).

Thirty-four-year-old Ray Norman Rouse IV was heading west on an eastbound lane March 17 when he slammed into the vehicle of 83-year-old Ormond Jackson Bailey and his 79-year-old wife, Gaynell Batton.

Eyewitness accounts report that Rouse smelled of alcohol and had probably been drinking at the brunch he came from prior to the accident.

Local authorities were of the opinion that Rouse would be facing more charges once WakeMed hospital, where he was taken and where the doctors reported he was resting in fairly stable conditions, releases him.

Rouse had been charged with similar offenses in April 2005 and February 2006, both in Wake County and both of which were dismissed.

"Jim, I just wanted to thank you again for everything you did for me. I am very happy about the outcome and would recommend you to anyone and everyone who has a DUI case. Two things that stuck out the most is your patience and honesty, you wanted the best for me and that was obvious."
