Police authorities in Raleigh, North Carolina are conducting an investigation to learn the details of the one-vehicle accident that killed one teen and seriously injured two others on Interstate 40, WNCN reported on May 29.

According to preliminary investigations, 18-year-old Bunnlevel resident Anastasiya Katherine Bergeron, the driver of the 2001 Toyota sedan, was heading east along the highway when she lost control of the vehicle between Wade Avenue and Chapel Hill Road at around 4:45 p.m. The car careened off the roadway and crashed into a tree at the right side of the interstate.

The Toyota sedan belonged to 20-year-old Chase Morgan Rodgers, the front-seat passenger at the time of the accident. He was declared dead at the scene. Bergeron and another passenger, 17-year-old Cary local Christian Michael Miller, were brought to WakeMed for treatment of their serious injuries. Bergeron currently faces a provisional DWI charge as a result of the accident. Her blood results are also being tested for other substances.
