North Carolina official gets arrested for fourth DWI and drug possession offense

Posted on January 15th, 2014 No Comments

North Carolina Republican county commissioner Brian Berger was arrested on Friday, December 6 on charges of driving under the influence and drug possession. He was found slumped at the wheel of a black rental car with a bottle of prescription pills in his pocket in the middle of an intersection after 12:00 a.m.

The Associated Press reported that this is the fourth time that Berger, who promised fiscal responsibility to his constituents, was arrested for similar offenses.

According to a New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson, Berger wasn’t able to post bond before 1 p.m. so he was forced to make a court appearance by video.

Berger also had earlier skirmishes with the law for domestic violence when his ex-girlfriend Heather Blaylock filed domestic violence charges against him in July 2011 and November 2011.
