New device claims to keep roads safe

Posted on August 16th, 2011 No Comments

A new device from Telit, named the CC864-DUAL cellular M2M, allows police, fleet managers, and even parents to monitor at-risk or drunk drivers. Like other car breathalyzer ignition interlock devices, if the driver blows over the legal alcohol limit, the engine will not start. The wireless machine comes equipped with a GPS tracker and camera, and it can track the car’s speed and route.

Drivers blow into the device which then monitors and logs the sample onto a secure server. Vice president of Telit Wireless Solutions North America says the device effectively monitors potential drunk driver and increases the safety of other motorists.
