NC’s Halloween Booze It & Lose It leads to 700 DUI arrests

North Carolina’s Halloween Booze It & Lose It campaign led to more than 700 drunk driving arrests, with a total of 24,363 citations issued throughout the state for criminal and traffic violations.

The statewide anti-drunk driving campaign lasted from October 26 to October 31. According to WECT, Mecklenburg and Wake Counties had the most citations with each county tying at 47. Brunswick had the second most with 35. Authorities created 3,166 sobriety check points over the five-day effort.

The North Carolina Department of Transportation reports that officers issued tickets to 758 motorists for drug charges, 272 for child safety violations, 6,465 for speeding, 1,377 for seatbelt violations, 641 fugitives, and uncovered 44 stolen vehicles.
