Man receives DWI after crashing into a skating rink

Benjamin Watts, 28, of Stokes County has been charged with driving while impaired (DWI) after engaging the police in a high-speed chase in Cary on Sunday, December 1.

According to police officers, the chase began on Nottingham Drive and ended when Watts ran his Ford Bronco into the Jellybeans Skate Center around 5:15 p.m. After Watts crashed into the building, he fled. Police arrested him shortly thereafter.

No accident-related injuries were reported, however the crash caused about $15,000 worth of damage to the skating rink.

After being arrested, Watts admitted that he had too much to drink prior to the incident.
