Man arrested for assaulting police officer

A 20 year-old Greenville man is currently in the Pitt County Detention Center after assaulting a police officer.

According to the Greenville police, the man broke into his ex-girlfriend’s University Suites apartment after she did not answer the door. Her roommate was home and when she told him she was going to call the police, he left. Police caught up with him soon after, but he then assault the officer and ran away. He turned himself in the next day.

He has been charged with assaulting a government officer, resisting a public officer, and first-degree burglary. Authorities say he has a history of domestic violence against his ex-girlfriend and has been stalking her. He is currently held on $200,000 bond.
