North Carolina resident 45-year-old Richard Altman has been charged with a DWI for driving under the influence in a fatal single-vehicle accident in which one of his sons was killed, WAVY reported on September 2. According to police authorities, other charges are pending.

Altman was allegedly speeding when his truck flipped over, causing him and one of his sons to be ejected from the vehicle. All three were brought to the hospital. The accident occurred along Route 218, 11 miles north of Edenton in Chowan County.
