What is an interlock device?
An interlock device is a type of breath analyzer connected to a vehicle’s ignition system. When these are installed, a driver must blow a breath sample into the device in order to start the automobile. The interlock device will measure a driver’s blood alcohol content and will not allow the vehicle to start if the reading is high enough to suggest that impairment is likely. The idea behind this device is that it can help to prevent drunk driving accidents.
