What is an ignition interlock device?

An ignition interlock device is a small machine installed into cars in order to prevent drivers from operating their vehicles while intoxicated. These devices are hooked up to the automobile’s ignition and require the driver to blow into the breath analyzer before it will turn on. If the individual processes a blood alcohol content higher than .08% or another pre-determined percentage, authorities may be alerted to the situation, and the car will fail to start.

If you or someone you love is in need of legal counsel for an issue regarding interlock devices or an alcohol-related crime, contact the Raleigh DWI defense attorneys at the Law Office of Jim Black at 919-600-4609 for a free legal consultation.
