Elderly man says he was forced to carry drugs

Posted on November 21st, 2011 No Comments

An 87 year-old man is facing charges of cocaine possession with the intent to distribute, but he says he was forced by drug dealers to do it.

The man says he feared for his children and grandchildren if he did not do what the men told him. He was sent to Raleigh to pick up luggage full of cash and drive it to Arizona. From there, the drug dealers gave him over a hundred bricks of cocaine and more cash and told him to drive to Detroit.

He was pulled over outside of Detroit for a traffic violation when a police dog sniffed out 104 bricks of cocaine. The man has plead not guilty, but if convicted he could face a minimum of ten years behind bars.
