East Carolina athlete arrested for DWI

Posted on January 9th, 2012 No Comments

A women’s basketball player for East Carolina University has been suspended from the team following her drunk driving arrest on New Years Day.

The 20 year-old athlete was pulled over in Pitt County and blew a 0.13, just over the legal limit of 0.08. She was taken to jail and released an hour and a half later after paying a $500 bond. According to a Highway Patrol trooper, the woman cut in front of his cruiser on U.S. 264 Alternate and nearly hit him.

She has been charged with driving while intoxicated, reckless driving, and drinking underage. She is the fifth member of the women’s basketball team to be arrested in the past six months.
