Drunk driving accident sends six to the hospital

Posted on April 3rd, 2012 No Comments

A car accident in Asheboro sent six people to the hospital late last week after authorities claim a suspected drunk driver rear-ended a van carrying five members of a touring rock band. The crash happened Friday night on Highway 64.

Authorities have charged the driver who rear-ended the van with driving while intoxicated, reckless driving, and possession of drug paraphernalia. The accident investigation is still ongoing and state troopers say more charges may be pending.

The car lost control after impact and ran off the road. The van also ran off the road and rolled several times, ejecting four of the five occupants.
