A 45-year-old Raleigh man has been indicted by a Wake County grand jury on second-degree murder charges after he struck two pedestrians, killing one, while under the influence of alcohol.

The man previously faced charges of driving while intoxicated, driving with a revoked license, felony serious injury by vehicle, and felony vehicular homicide for the January 1, 2011, accident. According to the News Observer, the man struck two people, pushing their disabled vehicle off of Interstate 440.

He fled the scene but was apprehended by authorities a short time later. His blood alcohol content was measured at 0.21, more than two times over the legal limit. According to court documents, the man had at least two prior DWI charges.
