A young man was indicted on drunk driving charges after causing an accident in Wilson, North Carolina on Friday, August 9. A woman was killed in the accident, while two others were wounded.

The Wilson Police Department reports showed that 20-year-old Goldsboro resident Semeer Patel ran the red light along Manchester Street, causing him to slam into a Toyota Truck in which three people were riding. Forty-eight-year-old driver Samantha Colvin died on the spot.

Colvin’s mother and daughter, 67-year-old Martha Hinnant and 21-year-old Maryse Colvin, were both hurt during the incident, and were airlifted to the Vidant Medical Center and taken by ground ambulance to the Wilson Memorial Hospital, respectively.

Patel was indicted on driving while impaired and involuntary manslaughter charges, along with other minor offenses. He is currently imprisoned in the Wilson County Jail and place under a $25,000 bond.
