Court upholds former NC legislator’s DWI conviction

Posted on June 6th, 2011 No Comments

A North Carolina Superior Court upheld the DWI conviction of a former state legislator last week after the man filed an appeal for his DWI conviction in November. The former legislator was charged with a DWI in June 2010.

According to reports, the man was traveling to Raleigh and speeding. When officers pulled him over, they smelled alcohol on his breath and administered several field sobriety tests. They charged the former legislator with a DWI, and he was convicted of the charge soon after.

The former legislator, who left office following allegations that he had an inappropriate relationship with an intern, has maintained that he was not drunk at the time of the incident.
