Posted on June 5th, 2012 No Comments

An alleged drunk driver was arrested over the weekend for a hit-and-run accident involving a cyclist on Falls of Neuse Road, WTVD reports. The 38-year-old cyclist landed on the windshield on impact, requiring more than 70 stitches to his face and neck.

However, the man was not seriously injured and has been released from the hospital. According to law enforcement, the driver dragged the bicycle nearly a quarter mile before it fell from the SUV.

Witnesses helped authorities identify the driver and her vehicle. She has been charged with felony hit-and-run, drunk driving, driving without insurance, and fake license plates. The woman is currently held on $26,000 bond and is expected in court this week.
