Aggravated DWI for highly intoxicated NC driver

Posted on August 8th, 2014 No Comments

Fifty-two-year-old Shelby, North Carolina resident Ronald Ellis was charged by the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office with one count of aggravated DWI after policemen arrested him on Interstate 81 in Watertown, the Watertown Daily Times reported on July 25.

Police investigators said Shelby was driving at 35 mph as he entered the highway near exit 45. They pulled him over and he was breathalyzed at .25 percent BAC. Because his BAC was higher than .18 percent, his charge was elevated to an aggravated DWI. The legal limit for alcohol is .08 percent.
