12 State Fair employees arrested on drug charges

Posted on October 24th, 2011 No Comments

A dozen workers at the State Fair in Wake County were arrested after law enforcement found nearly $10,000 worth of illegal drugs on them. Officers said that $4,000 worth of oxycodone and $3,000 in heroin were found in the raid.

The employees face drug possession and distribution charges. Aside from oxycodone and heroin, police also found powdered cocaine, crack cocaine, and marijuana. All involved were said to have worked in concessions and ran gaming booths. No ride operators were involved in the raid.

This is the first year the Wake County Sheriff’s Office has been in charge of the State Fair security. The Wake Count Sheriff says they will continue to be aggressive with drug enforcement for next year’s fair.

"Jim, I just wanted to thank you again for everything you did for me. I am very happy about the outcome and would recommend you to anyone and everyone who has a DUI case. Two things that stuck out the most is your patience and honesty, you wanted the best for me and that was obvious."
